Swim at Your Own Risk…Water Toxicity + Oil Spill

My mom and dad recently went over to Mexico Beach, Florida for the 4th of July.  They thought about going scalloping, but they met a fishing boat captain that told them he wouldn’t be caught eating anything that came out of the water or swimming in the water.  This really put a damper on their day, but it was information that they needed to hear. Was he a bitter, out of work fishing boat captain? Or, had he seen things that most of us don’t know about, being so close to the fishing industry?  I feel that he knew something we don’t, and that is that the chemical disperants being used are extremely toxic along with the invisible oil particles. The more I read about it, the worse it seems to be.  I realize that my hometown of Ft. Walton Beach, FL is trying to bring tourism to the beaches in order to make some money, but is it at the expense of your health? If you are considering going into the water, please read some of the articles that I’ve posted…the water may look clear, but that doesn’t mean that the chemicals or dissolved oil particles aren’t there.
